I'm interested in children's book.

I'm very interested in children's book. Today, there are so many children's books in the bookstore. Many parents are considerate to choose a book, worrying about whether their choice is good or not. Although I'm not someone's parents, I'm the one of them, because I teach 10-year-old students English, every Tuesdays.

I get some advice from prof. Yoo, when I choose my textbook. The book I chose for this week is Do Not Open This Book, by Joy Cowely and Illustrated by David Lund. This book draws readers' interests just by title. A mice is shown on the cover, pleading not to open the book. In the book, the mice says like this.
"Why did you turn the page?",  "You did open this book.", "Whatever you do, do not turn this page.", "There is the most terrible, horrible, scared thing you have ever seen." It arouses the curiosity from readers, what things is awaiting for them in the end. At last, a disgusting picture appears; meanies devour their spaghetti.
I think it is not educational, and less disgusting picture will be appropriate for the children, but, at the same time, I can give them the moral that the greed for food is not good.

And we will learn about the expression "Why did you~?". Also, since the background of the book is inside of a house, we will learn about the words related to the house, rooms and furnitures. I'm look forward to seeing my children on Tuesday. I'll write again the post about the result of the book and the teaching.

There are two very similar Sesame Street books - "Please Do Not Open This Book!" and "The Monster at the End of the Book" - starring Grover. My daughter liked the second one. You can see a preview here: http://www.amazon.com/Monster-this-Book-Little-Golden/dp/037582913X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1258379382&sr=1-1#reader_037582913X
